<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="justify">The same causes that can cause hypothyroidism are responsible for subclinical hypothyroidism, this is actually a stage from normal to proper Hypothyroidism.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="justify"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Do we need to treat this condition?</span></strong></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="justify">Usually this condition does not warrant treatment except in certain select situations like:</p>
<ul>
<li> Children</li>
<li> Pregnant women</li>
<li> Women planning conception</li>
<li> Other intercurrent illness requiring hospitalisation</li>
<li> Before any surgical procedure</li>
<li> Women with menstrual problems.</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="justify"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">What is the course?</span></strong></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="justify">If not started on treatment, then we can wait and observe the thyroid function again after 2-3 months. It can resolve on its own, persist as subclinical hypothyroidism or proceed to frank hypothyroidism.</p>
